Booking choice: The private West Bank day tour, from $89 per person. Check dates Tour details
The official price for a foreign adult at the Temple of Hatshepsut is EGP 440, about $8 at the October 2026 exchange rate. Students pay EGP 220, according to the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities price list. The temple is open every day from 6:00 to 17:00 (egymonuments.gov.eg).
Most people never buy the ticket themselves. A guide buys it at the window, or it is bundled into a West Bank tour. Below is what the gate charges, how to pay, what the $17 online ticket really is, and which tours already include entry.
The quick answer
EGP 440 for foreign adults, EGP 220 for students with a card, 6:00 to 17:00 daily. Ticket windows take bank cards, not cash. The electric shuttle to the ramp costs a few pounds in cash. The $17 fast-entry ticket online is non-refundable and costs about double the gate price. If you book a tour, pick an option that says the entry tickets are included, or budget EGP 440 for the temple and EGP 750 for the Valley of the Kings on top.

How much is the ticket to the Temple of Hatshepsut in 2026?
EGP 440 for a foreign adult and EGP 220 for a foreign student. Egyptians pay EGP 40, or EGP 20 as students.
Those are the prices on the Ministry's current price list (dated 5 November 2024). With the dollar at around EGP 52 to 53 (USD/EGP 2026), EGP 440 is just over $8. The older egymonuments.gov.eg page still shows the pre-November-2024 price of 360. Carry a card with room on it in case the window has moved again.
| Ticket | Foreign adult | Foreign student | About in USD (adult) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Temple of Hatshepsut | EGP 440 | EGP 220 | $8 |
| Valley of the Kings (3 tombs) | EGP 750 | EGP 375 | $14 |
| Tutankhamun's tomb (extra) | EGP 700 | n/a | $13 |
| Seti I's tomb (extra) | EGP 2,000 | n/a | $38 |
| Luxor Pass standard, 5 days | $130 or EUR 120 | $70 or EUR 60 | $130 |
Gate prices for the temple and the Valley of the Kings come from the Ministry pages; the extra tomb prices from a 2026 Luxor guide that checked them in August. The Luxor Pass prices are from the Ministry's pass sheet.
Skip the window and the maths: the private West Bank day includes entry to Hatshepsut and four more sites.
Check dates for the private West Bank day tourWhat are the opening hours of Hatshepsut's temple?
Every day from 6:00 to 17:00. Go at opening if you can: the temple faces east and has almost no shade.
The Valley of the Kings keeps the same 6:00 to 17:00 hours. Don't plan to walk in at 16:45. The online ticket seller lists its own hours as 6:00 to 16:00, and ticket windows wind down before closing. Be inside by 16:00 and you are safe.
Most tours do the Valley of the Kings first and reach Hatshepsut's temple mid-morning, when it is busiest and hottest. More on timing in the best time to visit.

Can you pay by card or cash at the ticket office?
Card. Luxor's ticket offices, Hatshepsut's included, went cashless in 2023: bank cards only at the window.
Egypt moved nine Luxor ticket outlets to card payment, naming the Hatshepsut temple, the Valley of the Kings and the Valley of the Queens, and suspended cash in full (Egypt Independent). Guests on the West Bank tours confirm it. One wrote that the extra tombs "could be paid by credit card", and another found cards accepted at the Valley of the Kings.
- Bring a card that works abroad, with a second one as backup.
- Bring small Egyptian pound notes too: the shuttle, toilets, water from kiosks and tips are cash.
- The Luxor Pass is the exception: it is paid in cash, in US dollars or euros.

Is there a shuttle from the ticket office to the temple?
Yes. A small electric shuttle runs from the visitor area to the forecourt below the ramp for a few Egyptian pounds, paid in cash.
The walk is a few hundred metres on a flat, open path. In winter, walk it: the view of the temple growing out of the cliff is half the point. From May to September, or after 10:00 any time of year, take the shuttle and save your legs for the ramp and the terraces.
A guest on the East and West Bank tour passed on his guide's tip for the shuttle: avoid sitting "at the front with the driver - on the 'gulf buggies', as the driver would ask for tip/money". Sit in the back, or keep a few coins ready.
Do students get a discount at the Temple of Hatshepsut?
Yes, half price: EGP 220 instead of EGP 440, with a valid student card. The Valley of the Kings is EGP 375 for students.
Bring an international student card (ISIC); a home university card is a gamble at the window. Students under 30 can also buy a student Luxor Pass: $70 for the standard pass and $130 for the premium, with a passport copy, a passport photo and the student card (Ministry pass sheet).
Tours rarely pass the student discount on. If you book a package with tickets included, you pay the adult rate built into the price. Students save more by booking a tour without tickets and buying their own at the window.

Book the car and guide only, then pay the student rate at the window: Hatshepsut, three royal tombs and the Colossi in a morning.
Explore the half-day West Bank tour Tour detailsIs the Luxor Pass worth it for Hatshepsut's temple?
Only if you spend three or more full days on sites, or want Seti I's tomb and Nefertari's tomb. For one West Bank day, no.
The standard Luxor Pass costs $130 (EUR 120) and covers every archaeological site on both banks for five days, except the tombs of Seti I and Nefertari. The premium pass, $250 (EUR 220), adds those two. You buy it at the ticket counters of Karnak or the Valley of the Kings with a passport copy and a passport photo (official pass sheet).
Do the sums before you queue. Hatshepsut plus the Valley of the Kings is EGP 1,190, about $23. You would need around EGP 6,800 of tickets in five days to break even on the standard pass. Serious Egyptology fans who want Seti I (EGP 2,000 alone) get there. A first-timer on a two-day visit does not.

Is the $17 skip-the-line ticket worth it?
Rarely. It costs $17 against about $8 at the gate, it can't be cancelled or changed, and the queue at Hatshepsut is short.
The listing on Viator, the Hatshepsut fast-entry ticket, gives you a PDF ticket and a link to an English audio guide on your phone. The Viator voucher itself is not the ticket: the operator sends the real one by email or WhatsApp. It is non-refundable, it has a single review, and the temple has no timed slots to skip.
Where it makes sense: you are already on the West Bank by taxi, your card keeps failing at Egyptian terminals, and you want a commentary for the walk. Everyone else should pay at the window or book a tour with a guide who buys the tickets.
A real guide instead of an app: about an hour at Hatshepsut's temple, three in the Valley of the Kings, tickets included.
Check dates for the private West Bank day tourWhich Hatshepsut tours include the entry tickets?
The private West Bank day ($89), the East and West Bank day ($110) and the private trips from Hurghada ($169) and Marsa Alam ($121) include them. The cheapest listings do not.
The from-price on the cheaper tours is per person in the largest group, for the car and guide only. Entry is an option you tick at checkout. Here is the split:
| Tour | From | Tickets |
|---|---|---|
| Private West Bank day | $89 | Included: Valley of the Kings (3 tombs), Hatshepsut, Habu, Deir el-Medina, Valley of the Queens |
| East and West Bank day | $110 | Included, with lunch |
| Half-day West Bank tour | $11 | Optional: pick the option with entry fees |
| Full-day West Bank tour | $32 | Optional, by option |
| King Tut's tomb tour | $65 | Not included: pay at the gate |
| Balloon and West Bank day | $130 | Valley of the Kings entry not included |
| Private trip from Hurghada | $169 | Included |
| Small group from Hurghada | $35 | Optional |
| Private trip from Marsa Alam | $121 | Included |
Even an "admission included" tour covers the standard three-tomb ticket in the Valley of the Kings. Tutankhamun and Seti I are always extra. Half day or full day compares the tours stop by stop.

Not for the ticket: the windows take bank cards only. Carry small pound notes for the shuttle, toilets, water and tips.
How long should I spend at Hatshepsut's temple?
